Abstract

Use of non-activated aryl chloride electrophiles in direct arylation of carbon–hydrogen bonds in five-membered ring heterocycles is described. Specifically, palladium-, ruthenium-, and nickel-catalyzed transformations, as well as reactions proceeding via benzyne intermediates are discussed.
