Abstract

Heterocyclization reaction of pyrazolinylquinolinone and its 4-chlorobenzylidene, 2-pyridylmethylene, pyridylaminomethylene, and 2-pyridylhydrazone derivatives with some active methylene nitriles and acrylonitriles, is described. These cyclization reactions afforded novel heterocyclic systems, such as pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines, pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazoles, and pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridazines, linked to position 3 of 4-hyd- roxy-1-methylquinolin-2(1H)-one. The effect of the new products on the activity of α-amylase was examined. Some pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazoles revealed significant increase in α-D-glucose production by the enzyme.
