Tautomericforms of arylhydrazones of 3-formyl-4-hydroxycoumarin were studied by 1Hand 13CNMR spectroscopy, X-Ray analysis and mass-spectrometry. These compounds existmainly as 4-hydroxycoumarin tautomeric form both in solution (DMSO) and in gasphase; chromane-2,4-dione is a minor form of these compounds. 4-hydroxycoumarintautomeric form has been only detected in solid state.
