Abstract

A two-stage method has been developed for the synthesis of the methyl ester of 3-bromo-2-(2-hydroxy-2-propyl)-7-oxo-7H-selenolo[2,3-f]chromene-8-carboxylic acid – a new example of a class of selenophene-containing polycyclic heterocycles. The molecular structure was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
