Abstract

A novel route for the formation of 3-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazoles was discovered upon the reaction of 3-aryl-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-5-carbonitrile with potassium hydroxide in the presence of phase transfer catalyst (tetrabutylammonium bromide) in THF as a solvent and a single crystal X-ray study is reported.
