Abstract

A series of novel pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazine derivatives has been synthesized using facile one-pot three-step protocol starting from pyrazole-3-carboxilic acids. The process occurs via amide formation with consequent pyrazine ring closure, hydrolysis, and dehydration. 7-Hydroxy-6,7-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-4(5H)-one and 7-methoxy-6,7-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-4(5H)-one have been isolated as intermediate compounds.
