Abstract

Transition metal-catalyzed transformations of carboxylic acids and their derivatives via decarboxylation–CO2 fixation cascade contribute to an important class of indirect chemical utilization of CO2 and allow obtaining heterocycles. Recent examples of palladium- and copper-catalyzed domino decarboxylation–CO2 fixation reactions are summarized in two main categories: generation of cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones.
