Abstract

This microreview summarizes the most frequently employed methods for the synthesis of cyano-substituted bipyridine  derivatives over the past 5 years. Most of the approaches to the preparation of such compounds described in the literature are based on cross-coupling reactions, heterocyclization of pyridine-containing substrates, and various multicomponent processes.
