Abstract

The previously unreported 14H-naphtho[1',2':5,6][1,3]oxazino[3,2-a]benzimidazole heterocyclic system was synthesized by the condensation of 1-dimethylaminomethyl-2-naphthols and 2-methyl-sulfanylbenzimidazole. A highly reactive o-methylenequinone derivative of naphthalene is proposed as an intermediate in this reaction.
