Abstract

A facile and efficient method for the preparation of 3-imidazolylpropionic acids N-oxides has been developed. It consists in the condensation of 2-unsubstituted imidazole N-oxide with aldehyde and Meldrum’s acid with the following hydrolysis of corresponding adduct. This method permits a broad variation in the structure of starting aldehydes as well as N-oxides.
