Abstract

Present investigation reports the synthesis of new furobenzisoxazole derivatives. Posner reaction of hydroxy furocoumarin has been studied, wherein the two reaction products are identified as 5-methylfuro[2',3':4,5]benzo[1,2-d]isoxazole-3-yl)acetic acid and 1-(6-hydroxy-3-methylbenzofuran-5-yl)ethanone oxime, depending on the conditions used. 1,3,4-Oxadiazole, 2-mercapto-1,3,4-oxadiazole and thiazolidinone derivatives of furobenzisoxazole were synthesized from hydrazide.
