Abstract

For the first time, triclinic γ-cyclodextrin hydrate methanol solvate has been obtained and its crystal structure determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes with two independent cyclodextrin moieties, 16 water molecules and one methanol molecule with 50% occupancy in the unit cell. The molecular packing of γ-cyclodextrin hydrate methanol solvate consists of infinite layers (in this case viewed down the direction of b and c axes). Along the a axis of the unit cell cyclodextrin rings form channels.
