UNSATURATED CARBOHYDRATES AS A SCAFFOLD FOR THE C–Si BOND CONSTRUCTION

Synthetic methodologies toward C-silylated furanose derivatives were developed. It was found that the double-bond-containing carbohydrates undergo a cross metathesis reaction with allyl and vinyl silanes while the triple-bond-containing substrates can be silylated with chlorosilanes. We also showed that these products can be hydrogenated to fully saturated silanes.
