Abstract

2-Acetonylpyrimidines readily undergo the Hantzsch—Biginelli cyclocondensation. This method was used to obtain derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridine and 1,4-di- and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidines, containing the pyrimidine fragment in the 5 position of the heterocycle.
