Abstract

α, β, γ-Trifluoromethyltetrachloropyridines are obtained by the fluorination of the isomeric tetrachloropyridinecarboxylic acids with SF4 in the presence of HF. Fluorination of the carboxylic acids proceeds more readily than in the case of unsubstituted pyridinecarboxylic acids.
