Abstract

Several monomethinecyanine, merocyanine and styryl dyes were synthesized using a 5,6-(1,4,7,10,13-pentaoxacyclotridecane)-benzothiazole derivative as the starging reageni. A study was made of their spectral characteristics and the effect which complexing with alkaline and alkaline-earth metal salts had on their chromaticity.
